  1. These were sad scenes of people being hung. I could not believe the hanging of the woma, Laura Nelson. It was really sickening to watch the crowd of spectators gathered around to watch the lynchings.

  2. These pictures were so upsetting to me. I have always known these things happened and saw it in movies but I have never actually seen so many real instances of it. These pictures are demeaning and sad. To think we as a race went through this and it seems to be ok with the general populace, sickens me.

  3. Of course these scenes are disturbing, to visually re-live them is almost just as torturous. I know the most sicking part is to know that these were real experiences not too long ago. How can such hatred exist?

  4. This video was, like any video of the sort, was very hard to watch. I am also confused by what was being said. It sounded like he was saying that he collected these postcards, but later said that some were pictures that he found in his own family album book, and that he knew of Laura Nelson, or had met her. I also have paid attention to the bystanders, in the picuture. They all stand around, and seem so proud of what they had done, some would bring their children to watch, such horrific events. I ask how could you live with yourself, after being apart of such a horrific crime.

  5. This movie disturbing and gut wrenching and make you cry at the thought of what each individual must have endured. As I write this response my hands are shaking. I am overwhelmed by so much grief. For several years I have avoided watching these types of movies because I always get so worked up but then again I guess that the point. It makes me want to do something. It make me ask so many questions. how could someone do this? how could someone even be strong enough to collect these types of postcards? How could someone stand around and watch anyone die? How could you have your children stand around and watch something that is so horrific? How could you live with yourself after being part of such a cruel act?
