Bring Your A Game

Tell me what you think about this video aimed at young Black men

  1. My unsuccessful view of this video from this link forced me to check it out on YouTube. Their link actually has three segments to this story so I watched all of them. This topic is very general on the idea of truth to truth. Outspokenly, black men have been and are targets of economic and social demise. The piece proposes that by 2020, if actions are not taken now, a substantial number of black men will be victims of the prison systems, which are considered the modern day force of slavery. Our men have been ill blinded by white success thinking those opportunities would be warrant to blacks. Not so. We were purchased as enslaved people with heredity of hard working ethic. To this day we have to retain such habits. Nothing is given to us nor can we obtain it by force. We simply have to strive to accomplish due process and that will only come through education. I find the hardest thing facing anyone in a position to succeed is gaining direction. If black men would focus their efforts towards those who have made it "legally" instead of visualizing life from the pseudo-TV-radio world then they can aspire to achieve realistic goals now through the future.

  3. Truth. First in my opinion we should have seminars that start as early as middle school because by the time a student gets to high school it is often to late becuase statistically most young boys start dropping out in the 9th grade. Second lets let our young men know that as soon as you drop out of school they are creating a place inside a jail cell , before you ever do anything wrong there is a spot with your name on it. I think this sould have gone a little deeper but I do think that it a great start. I know i have linked it to my facebook and twitter in the hopes that it will help somebody

  4. By now, I think we all know that we have more prisons being built for our young black males than schools. Also white males are more likely to graduate at a larger rate than black males. This is all of part of that white privileged theory. What are we going to do about it? We cannot force parents to be good parents and children are not able to choose their parents. Some of us have the resources to help our young males but we will not use it to help them. Everyone is pushing education. Education is important but it is still not a promise that the black male will be guaranteed a job even if he has the best education. We must admit that this country was built on the pursuit of happiness for whites not blacks. No matter how many steps we take forward they are making steps to push us back. if wedonot use our resources to help those young black males in our community we definitely cannot rely on others to do it.

  5. Wow,what a powerful and inspirational piece for our young black males. The story of life explained from people in the entertainment industry. Our young black males do have the highest dropout rate. To see African Americans in influential positions encouraging education and empowerment will hopefully lead to more stories of successful young males pursuing education as a means to rise above their circumstances.

  6. This video gave real insight to the intellectual stance placed on young black men attempting to be successful in the NBA. Everyone is not going to get into the NBA, so the intellect must be used to realize this and have a strategy in life.
