This is a blog supported by students in Dr. Andre E Johnson's African and African American Studies classes at the University of Memphis. It is open to anyone wanting to comment.
Being an African American woman, these stories are ones of grim reminders as well as ones of empowerment. It still baffles me to think that women, regardless of race and creed are not in a position to ever be able to speak passionately of forcefully about any topic and not be chastised by society standards. I believe that Wendi hit the nail on the head with some key points with passion. So does that make her an angry black woman or a thorough journalist who has done her research and presented a rational argument. I believe it is the latter.
