  1. Hip hop emerged in the 80s as a form of self expression. It was the voice or spokesperson of black people. It told the story of injustice and poverty. Hip hop opened the eyes of the world. On the other hand, in today's society we have just plain rap, not hip hop. Rap is the opposite of hip hop. Rap is a money maker. Rap is violence, sex, and drugs. Many people, particularly young black men are so fixated with the love of money that they are willing to "sell out". The media completely and intentionally numbs your mind and takes away your ability to decipher right from wrong. This phenomenon traps black men and leads them to "sell their sole to the devil".
